Cartly
The shopping list for the whole household. Everyone sees the same list, in real time. It sorts itself into categories and learns as it goes.
Software from Upper Austria
No ads. No data nobody needs. And a price you don't need a calculator for.
Why I do this
It always starts the same way: I need something, find nothing that fits, and build it myself. At some point I realised that building an app gives me as much pleasure as using a good one. It hasn't let go of me since.
And because I use every app myself, nothing goes in that would annoy me. No ads. No data nobody needs. What it costs is stated plainly: a fair price, cancel any time, no small print.
Get involved
No programming knowledge, no technical background — just genuine interest and a willingness to tell me what you notice. You don't only test, you help plan: which feature comes next is decided together. Places are limited.
Or write straight to [email protected] — I read every message myself. The group stays small enough that I can respond to all of it.
What there is
Born out of my own needs — and built for anyone who can use them. More apps are in the works.

Stock management and inventory with a barcode scanner. Already running — grown out of a program I have used in my own business for years.

Track your working hours and see what they add up to at the end of the month. Overtime rates included, no spreadsheet required. Submitted for review — it will be out in a few days.
Create barcodes and QR codes without signing up and without paying. Not an app but a web tool — an App Store version is something I'm still mulling over.
Free, and funded by ads and affiliate links. The only tool that is — the apps stay ad-free.
I built it back then for my own stock system and thought I would pay for the server with advertising. Today I see it differently: ads are a nuisance and have no place in a decent app. But I can't run it for nothing either. So it ticks along on the side — and if I ever rebuild it, the advertising goes.
Who's behind it
Early thirties, working in the chemical industry, at home in Upper Austria. Married, two boys.
It properly began with my stock levels. I needed a program for them, so I built one. At some point I wanted it on my phone — and from then on it never stopped. Tools for my own business turned into apps that are useful to other people too.
Cartly is my first app on the App Store. I build alongside a job and a family, with no investors and no deadlines set by anyone else. It takes longer that way. In return, nobody has a say who doesn't use the app themselves. What goes in grows out of the feedback of the people who use it every day. And what stays out was settled from the start: no ads, no data harvesting, no subscription traps.
